How do you display a map of your current location?

I successfully got my Reperion install to work on my HW6945 and I am very excited about the tracking features!  I am unclear on how I can see a map in real time like you do on a Tom Tom or similar device.  Do I need external map data loaded other than Reperion to make that possible?  Is it possible?

    Hi Blades,

There's actually two ways of seeing your GPS location on a realtime map, on your PDA, while on the move :)

    1. Press and hold the stylus on the satellite picture in your client. A selection box will appear giving you map/zoom choices. Be carefull with this option as it eats 60KB per map, and slows down your tracking updates because the software will be busy downloading.
    2. The bigger maps, press the yellow MAP icon on the far right bottom. To just display your own location, enter @youraccountname@ and press OK. The first mapupdate fails on timeout mostly, the second one seems to work. We are working on that. Anyway, you can also enter an addres there, or somebody elses accountname, to get a route and distance to that location/user.

I'd say play around with it a little, preferrably when someone else is driving.

Please report on your findings, we value this mostly.

You can also publish a Google Map showing your last 24 hours.

I just posted the details at: http://geocool.reperion.com/Web/forums/367/ShowThread.aspx#367

Did you try the answer above ? There's two options, as described above, in this posting. Please your comments !

Re: How do you display a map of your current location?

    Hi Mike,

I am no closer. When I try to get a map on my Dopod P800w (HTC Artemis - HTC 33000) I typically type in a location and press GO. Reperion then shows "......Waiting for Route Map........" and it sits there doing nothing further until I turn Maps off.

I am not using GPRS but I am connected to the internet, either with WiFi or USB cable

    Thanks for any assistance

    Peter
