    KML GeoBLog Example

If you upload audio / video / pictures / text with your client, using the pencil

icon on the PDA client , or the "send" button on your Smartphone GPS Tracking client,

the content will be stored and the last picture will always be displayed on the "worldmap"

    http://tracker1.reperion.com/wrldMap.aspx?name=dutchnomad (worldmap example)

However, ALL your content is stored and you can create a KMZ file using the KML composer, using

a start date and time, and end date and time. If you open the resulting KMZ (have patience and compassion with our servers)

all the audio pictures and video will be displayed at the position you uploaded it.

The kmlcomposer is here : http://kmlcomposer.reperion.com  and the example is here

http://www.reperion.com/example (needs latest version of Google Earth, open the "slider" in the top of the Google Earth screen all the way to the right to see all postions. You can play with this "slider" a bit, click on it, use the properties..etc..

    Re: KML GeoBLog Example

I tried this and it is not working correctly for me. I'm using client version 1.53 on an AT&T Tilt (HTC). The problem I'm having with the GeoBlog is that the times are way off, and my picture was nowhere near the location where I shot it and uploaded it. I' ve tried setting the GMT input box to -5 and also -05 but the time in the KML file is always off by +5 hours. My timezone is Eastern USA GMT -05:00

The times are correct when I view my track on the tracker1 server. What am I doing wrong?

    Re: KML GeoBLog Example

that's a fascinating one.. Have you tried setting it at "0" (not that it is very intuitive....but if it's either off by -5 or +5, try 0.

I think we must investigate this one further, it's odd, this is the very first question we ever got about the KML composer.

The GPS Tracking website and your Google Earth track are ok.. so that's our problem here.. they should be off too !

    Re: KML GeoBLog Example

Thanks for the reply. Setting it to "0" made no difference.

    Re: KML GeoBLog Example

I am having no success with the KML Composer at all. I can't get anything to work. I either get an empty route or a "Timeout expired" error. Any thoughts? I am going on vacation and thought this might be a cool way to show the various places we visited, but doesn't seem to work...

    Re: KML GeoBLog Example

can any one please explain how I can definately get my photos on the google earths maps apologies if this is explained somewhere but I cant seem to find it, the kml editor just times out so cant see if thats how Im supposed to do it.

thanks in advance.  On a side issue, any way I can get rid of the speed note in google earths as a little nervous of authorities looking at it?

great product though and am planning on using it for my mini adventure to madrid in the next few weeks...

    Re: KML GeoBLog Example

Currently the server is under too much stress. We're still running on pathetic hardware here. Soon everything will be migrated to an 8-core 16GB Ram system.

Until that time, please have faith, keep sending the updates, and upload pictures, video and audio while you are tracking live... very soon the composer will be fast and then you will have your GeoBlog just like the one here http://www.reperion.com/example

Please give us another month or so. But please keep sending (more) video's while actually on track. Remember , content must be uploaded on the spot, while tracking is in progress.

Hope you all can wait a little to experience the new Reperion

a sneak preview can be found here : http://videoshow.reperion.com

Please your comments, we value them mostly !!

    Re: KML GeoBLog Example

    Hi,

First I want to congratulate for this work. Second I want to appologise for my english! Is not my native language. We are waiting for upgrating your servers to work faster.

I understand that we must upload the picture on the road (small picture, low quality 480 x 640, aprox 50k) and it is ok for the moment. But my question is if we can later replace with another  better quality pictures, or when we are editing our geoblog to insert more pics in another places stored in the tracking log. We can sincronise the internal clock of the camera with GPS time and later in geoblog editing mode to match the time with the nearby track step.

    Re: KML GeoBLog Example

Very good question. You can expect a full "suite" for users to edit their KML, insert audio video and what's more.

We will also get you a new client with better uploading features and lot's of good stuff. But we need a bit more time to sync all development.

There is a lot going on with location based services at the moment and this takes much of our attention.

So what you would ideally see is probably what we are planning, as it's obvious to most people what is needed and useful.

Thanks again for your compliments and sound suggestions. Noted and on short list !
