    HTC TyTN II: supported

I have a brand new HTC TyTN II (for about two weeks now) and since it has built in GPS I thought it would be fun to start using Reperion again...

And I must say: it works like a charm...
In fact, I will be posting about Reperion in the Kaiser/Tytn II (it's the same) threads soon...

For more info about the TyTN II:

just do a search on the internet, or go to HTC.com or PDAdb.net

    Re: HTC TyTN II: supported

Please do post because I have the same phone and can't seem to get it woking.

    I've tried both

    Reperion INTERNAL GPS (GID).cab
    and

     WM2006_152.CAB

The internal GPS CAB seems to work best - I can get a GPS fix (can't get the internal maps to work though) but I can't upload anything to the server. The only error I can find is a 'did not update server' error. I did read the FAQ and walked around the block on 10 second updates but still no uploads.

If I had to guess the app. is having trouble detecting an internet connection but I can't be sure.

Any tips would be great, thanks!

     -Tave

PS- GPS does wrk fine with Google Maps so I'm pretty sure it's somethign to do with the reperion app.

    Re: HTC TyTN II: supported

    Hi !

I don't have your model but let's try a few things first :

    • force update working ? Enter your current GPS position and press force update. Please report
    • sometimes, rarely, you must disconnect from GPRS and then reconnect. Even more rarely, reset.
    • is the exact error : No Connection/Reports not sent, or something else ?

Our server has been down for a couple of hours. That could be it too. We are a free service running on

a server in the basement, Pentium 1,5, 512MB ram. If we'd make money, we'd be faster and better, but we think no-one wants to pay nowadays. And if we can still offer it for free, why not :)

    Please advise

    Re: HTC TyTN II: supported

Good lord. If you pay the shipping I'll give you a P4 machine for free!

Awesome service you have for us freeloaders - hope you can keep it running for a while.

Plus it does drive business - since I got it working on my mobile it's now under consideration as a tracking solution by one of my customers. It was the down server that was causing the problems - tried it again this morning and voila.

You should really think about monitoring it a little better or at least putting a notification on your website somewhere that it was down -

I spent a lot of time trying to figure it out last night! Great support though - nice to see someone monitoring these forums so well.I still can't get the internal map to work though -

it just displays a blue screen (the ocean?) - not a big deal at all since Google Maps works so well - I'm just interested in the tracking/reporting features. Thanks,-Tave

    Re: HTC TyTN II: supported

    Hi Gfitzpat,

Thanks for the offer! We are currently thinking about asking everyone for a really small donation, like 2 or bucks. Then we want to order a server at www.upservers.nl (A octa-core processor, 4 GB, 250GB SATAx4, and 1U height for just 1500 euro. Checkout the second server from the homepage, and configure it :)

We will put better monitoring online asap. It's the typical mistake of an IT-guy, not monitoring his own stuff, ROFL.

Of course, the professional services that are for sale at the payed part of Reperion run on slighly better machines which are also redundant.

The reason you are getting a bloue map is most prolly because your GPS position is 0.0000  or something. The maps (especially the MP types must work)

Thanks for the thumbs up, we really appreciate it. Does everyone visit http://www.reperion.com/newclient regularly ?

    Re: HTC TyTN II: supported

    Hi there,

I'm also using a HTC TyTN II. Today I downloaded the latest cab-file and installed it. I really like this tracker very much, everything works fine, even live-track in Google-Earth.

There is only one thing what is frustrating me Wink : my device is getting very, very slow every time I hit the green arrow to start the programm tracking. Everything I do on my device has about 15 sec. delay. For example: touching the setup-button, or help, or anysting, it takes time. When I tab the 'stop'-button again, after 15 sec. everything is fast again: hit anything and it pops up right away. I tried in in the real-time upload, but also in the log-modus, but there is no difference.

Is the programm taking so much memory when running (a bug?)? Can you help me out Mike (or how does any other TyTN II user experiences this)?

    Thanks in advance!

*** off topic *** why not putting a donate-button on your site, not everybody will donate, but any dime is one, isn't it??? (and the prog is great!!!)

    Re: HTC TyTN II: supported

    Hi !

What version are you using ? 1.52 ?

Are you using any other GPS apps at the same time ?

Do you use the Windows Mobile PortSplitter ?

    This behaviour shouldn't happen.

We do have quite some people using the TyTnI II with success with Reperion, so we will get you on track properly.

Probably a lot of testing and then we will find it was something small :)

    Re: HTC TyTN II: supported

    Hi,

    from this site:

    www.reperion.com - /newclient/005 WM2006 versions/

    [To Parent Directory]

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 5:13 PM 772708 Reperion PORTSPLIT OR INTERNAL GPS (GID).cab
    Tuesday, August 21, 2007 4:30 PM 766874 WM2006_152.CAB

I use the one from Oct. 10th, the Portsplit. Not the 152.

There's no other app running at the time. I've tried a few times normally, then I did a soft-reset (making sure all caches were empty) I started Reperion again but with no better results.

We'll figger it out... but how Smile

    *** EDIT ***

I did 3 soft resets now, and it is working fast! Don't know what went wrong, but after a few soft-resets it's fast in all ways!

Only one question: what is the Alt/m function for, can't figger it out...

    Re: HTC TyTN II: supported

Good to hear you are successfully using Reperion GPS Tracking with your TyTN II (Kaiser) .

The Alt/M function (tap and hold the screen) is to switch between  FEET & METERS . There are many options hidden away.

We would love to hear more of your expierences, use your BLOG to write about it (control panel, click on your own username)

    Re: HTC TyTN II: supported

Hi Leon, I made the lettest this big. Sorry for the extremely late reply by the way.

The alt/m setting is to display and upload your altitude in meters or feet. Same counts for

    the MPH/KPH setting.

    Did you :

Cheers, any comments, please. Note, the slow server will be replaced soon, you can actually get a sneak preview at http://tracker3.reperion.com bit don't update this server yet, jjust look at it :)
