Reperion cc: bcc: error in newsletter - express your support/discontent

I felt we had to react as a community to the latest newsletter and the privacy blunder.

I think it is very serious, but error is human and Mike@reperion and the team are doing a pretty good job at giving us a lot of value for free.

Stuff happens. I'm sure a small minority will scream and yell, but the
truth is, for most of us it is unpleasant but not so grave. We get a
lot of spam and viruses  from many other sources.
I hope they won't hinder further development of reperion. It would be a
shame, especially since the error looks so obvious there's for sure no
    foul play involved.

Of course I hope it will never happen again, the breach of trust was quite unpleasant, but you have my support if some of us overreact (threats?? suing??? is that the prospect of easy money made on another one's hard work??? or the holier-than-thou attitude that so many like to display until they're caught doing something unpleasant themselves)

on a technical side I have several suggestions to help everyone handle spam and their web privacy online in general.
-if you're using gmail, you can make up adresses that redirect to your mailbox on the spot using the "+" sign.
    myadress+reperion@gmail.com ,myadress+freetracker@gmail.com,myadress+anything@gmail.com
all end up in  myadress@gmail.com mailbox

    - http://dodgeit.com/ allow you to construct and consult a random email adress made up on the spot. of course this will be  possible for everyone to see, but it is practical as an alternative to throw away accounts.   when asked for an email adress just make one up like sffsdfd@dodgeit.com  then you can go to dodgeit.co and consult the adress. same with mailinator.com

    - www.bugmenot.com allows you to bypass altogether many registration sites. Use sparingly for sites that you really are not interested in.

Thank you, and many others who sent back (heartwarming YesYes) emails to support the case.

I hope and feel that the 3 people who sent back less heartwarming comment s on our misstake will eventually accept our most sincerest excuses in this matter and finally give it a place to rest in the drawer "dumb idiots".

Hey we have made mistakes that put people in the middle of the desert at times they were sure to be driving through copenhagen, sent out alerts for weather in the United States to people sleeping in Poland, we have had geo-fences giving alerts to other geo-fences...giving alerts to...other geo-fences which in the end resulted in people having to click through 65536 messages on their PDA.... boy we messed up a lot....

We promise to keep making mistakes, albeit as little as possible. Embarrassed

A community for and by the people, the ideas are endless, enjoy !

In my opinion it was a genuine mistake one that always deserves forgiveness. People should be more considerate and supportive. Keep up the good work.

Easily done - i hope the responsible party had to wear a Dunce cap for at least a week as recompense. Stick out tongue

Perhaps Reperion should look at a mailing list program which manages all this automagically.

And I've made a similar mistake myself - I've had to send out service interruptions for my company in the past, via e-mail.  Unfortunatly once, I forgot to turn off both the delivery and receipt tracking functionality for the e-mail that I sent out, to 3700 people.   I was still getting reciepts back 3 years later.
