    Log pos to server???

I have reperion05 on my Mio. What options do I have in terms of sending gps position to some server or just hitting a url that will parse a string that Reperion will provide? And finally where can I find Docs for Reperion???? How the program works and so on?

What exactly apart from what is described in the installation manual and tutorial are you having trouble with ? Are you interested in the engineering details behind the software ?

    Best regards,

    Re: Log pos to server???

I'm doing a GPS project. I just need Reperion to hit a known url with a query string. Is that possible? The plan for the url is to parse the string sent to it (via querystring or post method) then use that info to update a GPS tracking page that shows location. So what I need to know is... how do I get data from the Reperion to some web site... or what can I do with the data that is on there. I'm probably a lil slow.. coz I'm an Comp Sci person assigned to do some GIS work but uhhh... plz go easy wit me n help me out in terms of what to configure where in the software... Right now it's not obvious to me to get done what I want to get done. Any help'll b grealty appreciated.

    Re: Log pos to server???

Also here is what I've tried thus far....

(I have GPSProxy running in the background)

    Setup -> Config

For server I put the url (without the http) for the url I want Reperion to hit

I keep tryin to clear the call and password field to no avail

    Then I hit "OK"

What's supposed to happen after that?

Here's all the other info I see

    Server: url as mentioned

    Call: user

    CommPort: 4

    Baud:4800

    Interval:10 seconds

    Min. Dx to update: Any

    Msg stored on server:*

    Ver 1.48

    Mph 120

    Alt/ft

    9016

    Maps off

To the left of the satellite pic:

    37.111111

    -100.0000

Don't kno if that'll help you to help me... show hope so

    Re: Log pos to server???

I'm sorry but I have to ask :

    • Did you read the F.A.Q. ? And the signup procedure
    • have you seen  http://tracker1.reperion.com and entered your username or click example
    • why are you clearing call and password, you must enter your username, password and servername, then press start, and then you are tracking,
    • we built the system you are describing to us, so no need to do it yourself, it's ready ( http://tracker1.reperion.com

sorry to ask, but normally people get online and tracking by themselves if no hardware error exist. I still wonder if I understand your queston corectly.

    Re: Log pos to server???

Seems I did the sign up procedure a lil too quickly..  I think i might have gazed at it. The FAQ is the page that shows u how to connect to like GoogleMaps and so on I believe. I didn't get a feeling that it could accomplish what I wanted. In essence, I'm saying.... I want the data. I do not want to use a facility that uses the data sent to it. I need the data. I need to parse it for an application that I am using, and I need to know if that is possible. Me gettin the data from Reperion. And if I can't get data from Reperion is there a query string or something of the sort I could plug in tracker1.reperion.com to get out the info I've been talkin about? I'm a comp sci programmer workin with some tools that showing mapping info (like Google Earth), only my directives require that I use  the tools supplied, so from that basis I need the data.

    Re: Log pos to server???

Here's an update... I've been to tracker1.reperion.com and I've seen the info that's there. Powerful stuff... I see what you mean. However, I can't advertise that as something I've done... I just want the data. Is that at all possible?

    Re: Log pos to server???

If you set PocketReperion to LOG (via the config menu) you will end up with a file

called : positions.log . That's the data. I'm sure you'll be able to script something to get your goals accomplished.

Maybe getting a completely different tool like FransonGPS or GPSDash, or VisualGPSce will do the simple job of recording GPS data better.

    Re: Log pos to server???

I am also interested in this. I tried creating a php page that will accept the "get" variables and then tried entering that page's address in the reperion client's config, but it keeps giving me a 404 error. I've double-checked that the address in the config is correct, but I continue to get the same 404 error.

Is there some kind of verification that the reperion client need to receive from the server when it connects to a page before it sends the data?

    Thanks in advance!
